Katarzyna Slowinska

Dr. Katarzyna Slowinska received her M.S. in Chemistry summa cum laude from the University of Warsaw and Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, where she worked under the supervision of Dr. Marcin Majda. Following her doctoral work, she was a research chemist at the General Electric Global Research Center, in Advanced Lighting Materials group developing OLED-based materials. She joined California State University, Long Beach in 2004 and is currently a Professor and Graduate Faculty Advisor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. Her research focuses on the design of functional biomaterials based on collagen and collagen-mimetic peptides, with particular emphasis on self-assembly, hierarchical structure, and applications in drug delivery and wound healing. Her work is supported by NIH and industry collaborations.
